Alice Mancilla is an interdisciplinary artist based in Silver City, New Mexico. She works primarily with sculpture and material-based processes and found materials to explore themes of land, labor, and cultural continuity. Her work lives at the intersection of art-making, storytelling, and sustainable building. She is currently completing a Bachelor’s degree in Interdisciplinary Studies (Marketing and Art) and an Associate’s degree in Welding Technology at Western New Mexico University. Over the past three years, she has participated in the university’s student exhibitions and frequently supports her peers by assisting with installations, workshops, and collaborative projects. Her practice continues to evolve through her apprenticeship with Crooked Forest Institute, where she works hands-on with natural materials, sustainable building, and community-based projects. Her practice is rooted in hands-on making and a connection to place, with a focus on creating work that feels grounded in the materials and environments it comes from.
